Arizona now requiring pat downs and birth certificates at restroom door

Well, few moments in the history of the United States have rung so true than what transpired tonight in the great (cough) state of Arizona. What a local television station is calling the “Show Me Your Papers Before You Go Potty” bill, passed in a weaker than offered version tonight on a 7-4 vote.

The bill was brought by state representative John Kavanagh, who opined about the dire state of the transgender menace in the state noting that there would be “naked men in women’s locker rooms and showers.” Sadly, he seems to have neglected to mention that the bill would force female to male Trans men to urinate in the women’s restrooms while trimming their beards in the mirrors afterwards.

The “menace” seems to be as always the “perverted male in a dress” which plays so nicely into the fears and phobias of most right of center voters in this country. Inculcated by decades of scare mongering and allusions to a nefarious sexual deviant class, the transgender woman seems to now occupy the lauded place of Jews, Negroes, Gays, and Communists of yore.

Oh but think of the children! sigh…

Meanwhile, in my neck of the woods, Portland, Oregon, Grant High School has created six unisex bathrooms to ensure that transgender students have comfortable access to restrooms when needed. Well, a nice, compromising solution doesn’t fire up the populace like a good, old-fashioned red-scare styled paranoia fest dressed up in a “community welfare” package.

Welcome to the United States in the 21st century. Where certain states have regressed into 1945 and other states are living in 2013 and beyond.
