Bach: Unaccompanied Cello Suites by Yo-Yo Ma

I know these are kind of played out, if that’s even possible for classical music, but to me they have a bit of a rap feel because they are solo pieces with lots of rhythmic variation. Many people don’t realize that talented rappers (not terrible bitch ho nonsense people) create a melody with their words. It’s sing/speech, and I think the cello and the human voice are quite similar. Anyway, it’s worth a listen. Put ya hands in tha Air on G String and wave em like ya just don’t cayah! ;)

Songs grow on their own

I’ve been playing around with 4 chords, trying to make a song out of it, and nothing has come together for the last month or so. Then today, it locked in with a 10 year old riff I had! Excelsior!! :) You gotta let the songs gestate.

Pick up some picks

Why can’t they make credit cards and store group cards the thickness of guitar picks? It would help! Where are those damn picks?! grumble grumble I hate moving…

Why haven’t you unpacked everything?

Shut up you!

Music

When I listen to music I loved early in my transition, it breaks and tears my heart apart. There was so much pain and suffering. I don’t know if it was just my situation or transition in general, but oh my god, I put on some albums today, and it’s like I’m there, and I don’t know if I can be there right now. It was so awful. You have no idea. Realizing that my children were gone from me. Trying to be Abbie. A crazy, boozy mess of trials and triumphs, and falling off cliffs.

I guess this is what they call growing up, but lord, I don’t know how I made it. It will always be there. The Target down the street where I bought some of my first female clothes. The houses around where I lived where I didn’t belong in LA’s hills.

And now I’m here, where of course, I’ll look back some day and swoon and remember the broken, beaten heart. The heart that I don’t know how it survives.

And maybe I’ll write something about it.

Once upon a time you dressed so fine You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn’t you ? People’d call, say, “Beware doll, you’re bound to fall” You thought they were all kiddin’ you You used to laugh about Everybody that was hangin’ out Now you don’t talk so loud Now you don’t seem so proud About having to be scrounging for your next meal. How does it feel How does it feel To be without a home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone ?

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn’t you ?
People’d call, say, “Beware doll, you’re bound to fall”
You thought they were all kiddin’ you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin’ out
Now you don’t talk so loud
Now you don’t seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone ?

Why were the Beatles so popular?

Why were the Beatles so incredibly popular and remain so to this day? Because they were so ridiculously happy and positive all the time. I love this spirit, and I want to harness it. I ain’t skerrred of nothin’ and I just want to be a big goofball and a have an awesome time in this life that I’ve been blessed with. Everybody, and I mean everybody, wants to smile. It’s my secret weapon for world domination. Smile smile smile! :)

I bet you just smiled a little bit huh? See! I control your thoughts and actions! Bwahhahaha
